Amazon Bringing New Warehouse To Romeoville

Amazon.com plans to open a new warehouse in Romeoville that is expected to create 600 new jobs.

Employees at Amazon’s 750,000 square-foot “fulfillment center” in Romeoville will process orders for large items.

The planned Romeoville fulfillment center, expected to open in the fall, will be the third Amazon warehouse in Will County.

“We are excited to add this new fulfillment center in Romeoville,” Akash Chauhan, vice president of Amazon’s North America Operations, said in a statement Tuesday. “Expanding our footprint in Illinois brings hundreds and hundreds of full-time jobs with competitive pay and great benefits starting on day one to the state.”

Amazon is now hiring workers for the Romeoville warehouse at a $13 hourly pay rate for full-time associates.

“We are pleased to welcome Amazon to Romeoville. We have very few vacancies, so we were fortunate that they found an existing building that met their needs,” said Romeoville Mayor John Noak. “Amazon continues to have a major impact on our regional economy. We look forward to this partnership, as e-commerce is an important sector in our future growth.”
