Don't Miss Grace Period Registration

Illinois' 2010 voter registration deadline may have passed on Tuesday, but there are still ways for folks who didn't make it to the registrar in time to participate. For the last six years, the state has offered potential voters a "grace period" to sign up. It started on Wednesday and extends through October 26. During that stretch, a person can show up at limited locations (usually the county clerk's office), register to vote, and cast a ballot all in one visit. (Cook County residents can find those locations here.)

If you are signed up and want to vote early, most of those sites open Tuesday. Our piece on this year's voting timeline has all sorts of information on that front.
