Final Push To Keep Progress Illinois Open

Here's an update on the status of Progress Illinois and the push to keep the news site alive.

Happy New Year from Progress Illinois!

First, we would like to thank everyone for their support of Progress Illinois and the interest in helping keep the news site up and running.

Thanks to the support and public outcry to keep PI going, we have been granted a short funding reprieve by our founding sponsor to see if we can indeed raise the funds necessary to continue reporting the news and issues that are important to our audience.

We have enough funding to keep us going -- on an even more shoestring budget than usual -- through the end of February 2015, at the latest.

We will continue reporting on progressive Illinois and national issues, including the 2015 Chicago municipal elections, as we work to launch small donor and large-scale fundraising campaigns as well as a formal fundraising board in attempts to keep Progress Illinois alive.

To start, we would like to offer the many readers who have offered to support and donate to Progress Illinois the opportunity to do so via our PayPal account as we work to launch a formal small donor campaign, which we will announce as soon as it is in place. In the meantime, you can donate via PayPal using the email address [email protected]

We are also pulling together a formal board that will assist in fundraising for Progress Illinois at a larger level. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact me at [email protected]. If these fundraising attempts are fruitful enough to keep PI going, we plan to hold an annual fundraising gala that will be fleshed out in the next couple of months.

We want to thank all of you once again for your support and interest in keeping Progress Illinois in existence. We strive to provide our readers with Illinois and national progressive news and information that is not necessarily reported or given more than a short blurb or 15-second reader in mainstream media. We hope to continue serving you through 2015 and beyond and please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or news tips you may have.

Happy New Year once again from the PI staff!
