The Illinois State Board of Elections reports that 485,410 early votes were cast in Illinois as of Thursday morning.
That represents over 6 percent of the state's 8 million active registered voters, according to the elections board.
Illinois has a record number of active registered voters this election cycle. The record was previously set in 2008, when Illinois had 7.8 million active registered voters ahead of the presidential election.
Illinoisans can vote early until November 7. The election is November 8.
