Illinois Reaches Almost 8 Million Registered Voters

Illinois currently has the largest number of registered active voters since 1970, according to the state Board of Elections.

As of Tuesday morning, Illinois had about 7.99 million active registered voters leading up to the November 8 election. The number has not been that high since 1970.

By comparison, Illinois had 7.8 million active registered voters ahead of the 2008 presidential election.

The state elections board expects the number of active registered Illinois voters to surpass 8 million this election cycle.

Election Day is November 8. Early voting is open now through November 7. Find early voting details here.
