An Illinois budget-focused community forum is set to take place in the state's 20th House district Tuesday night. Incumbent Mike McAuliffe (R-Chicago) and challenger Merry Marwig (D) have been invited to participate in the event, but McAuliffe has yet to confirm his attendance.
"The forum is being held to provide space for a discussion of the urgent issues that have arisen as a result of the state budget crisis, and to provide House Representative candidates an opportunity to share their views and proposals for addressing the crisis," reads a release announcing the event.
The forum is open to the public and hosted by the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of Americans for Democratic Action.
The forum will take place tonight at 7 pm at Norwood Park Evangelical Church, 5917 Nina Ave. in Chicago.
