The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a judge's ruling that allowed a transgender student in Virginia to access the bathroom matching his lived gender.
The Supreme Court voted 5-3 to put the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling on hold until it decides whether to consider the case.
The three dissenting justices were Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.
The lower court ruling at issue allowed transgender student Gavin Grimm to access the boys bathroom at his Gloucester County school.
