Kim Foxx, Democratic candidate for Cook County State's Attorney, added former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean to her growing list of endorsements Monday.
Dean is the founder of Democracy for America, the national progressive group, which endorsed Foxx for Cook County State's Attorney back in October.
Foxx, a former Cook County Assistant State's Attorney, is vying to unseat Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, who has faced calls for her resignation over her handling of the Laquan McDonald police shooting case in Chicago. Donna More, a former state and federal prosecutor, is also running in the Democratic primary for Cook County State's Attorney.
"Kim Foxx is the only candidate in the race with the experience and vision to bring transformational change to the broken justice system in Cook County," Dean said in a statement. "I am proud to endorse Kim, and hope that she and the grassroots movement she has built will help create the model for dismantling the status quo in criminal justice systems all across the nation."
