Raja Krishnamoorthi, Democratic candidate in the state's 8th congressional district, rolled out a new TV ad on Wednesday.
The TV spot, titled "Meet Raja," will air now through the March 15 primary election. Krishnamoorthi's campaign commercial includes a brief biography and covers his legislative priorities if elected to Congress, ranging from strengthening gun safety to protecting Social Security and Medicare.

Krishnamoorthi's new TV commercial comes on the heels of him earning the endorsement of the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. The paper's editorial board said it was "impressed by Krishnamoorthi's highly specific legislative agenda."
The Daily Herald also endorsed Krishnamoorthi earlier this month.
Krishnamoorthi, a businessman from Schaumburg, is competing against state Sen. Mike Noland of Elgin and Villa Park Village President Deb Bullwinkel for the Democratic nomination in the 8th congressional district. A recent poll released earlier this month found Krishnamoorthi leading the pack at 41 percent of support from some 400 likely Democratic voters compared to Noland's 27 percent and Bullwinkel's 5 percent. Twenty-six percent of respondents were undecided.
The 8th district seat is being vacated by incumbent Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat who is running for U.S. Senate.
