A Chicago police officer plans to file suit against the estate of the 19-year-old he allegedly shot and killed last month.
Officer Robert Rialmo was involved in the fatal police shootings of Quintonio LeGrier, 19, and his neighbor Bettie Jones, 55. LeGrier's estate has filed a wrongful death suit against the city.
An attorney for Rialmo says the officer intends to countersue because LeGrier allegedly attacked him, which, he claims, caused emotional stress.
The LeGrier family's attorney argues the countersuit threat is nothing more than an effort to draw attention away from the fact that LeGrier was unjustly shot four times in the back.
