The number of approved medical marijuana patients in Illinois has now reached 3,300, according to new numbers by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Twenty of those who have been approved are children.
Patients who are approved will be required to obtain a written doctor's certification and pay $100 annually for a marijuana card. Some 4,300 people have already applied for approval. IDPH officials will soon announce a date for sales to begin for qualified patients. Illinois is the 23rd state to pass legislation legalizing medicinal marijuana.
