The SEIU* Illinois Council has endorsed Chicago City Clerk Susana Mendoza in the race for Illinois Comptroller.
"We look forward to working with Susana Mendoza, the first woman to be elected to the office of City Clerk in Chicago, to champion the needs of the most vulnerable Illinoisans by restoring balance, reviving neighborhoods and helping to build an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few," said SEIU Illinois State Council President Tom Balanoff in a press release announcing the endorsement.
Mendoza will be going up against state Sen. Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) for the Democratic nomination in the Illinois comptroller's race. The Democratic nominee will face incumbent Leslie Munger (R), who was tapped to take the helm after the December passing of former comptroller Judy Baar Topinka.
