Secretary Of State Jesse White Not Seeking Re-Election

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced Thursday he will not seek re-election in 2018.

"This is my last tour of duty," White said at the Illinois State Fair, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

White, who has served as Illinois Secretary of State since 1998, is currently in his fifth term.

He previously worked in public service as a state representative in the Illinois General Assembly for 16 years and as the Cook County recorder of deeds.
