SEIU* Healthcare Illinois is bringing its ad campaign against Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner's proposed budget cuts to the TV airwaves.
The two TV ads that will run in Springfield starting Monday put a human face on the impact funding cuts could have for seniors who receive home care services as well as those who benefit from other important social service programs. Click through to see the two TV ads, titled "Wrong priorities" and "Poorer."
"Showing the authentic and very real personal stories of people affected by Gov. Rauner's choices is part of our strategy because we know that the people of Illinois want to see these programs preserved and that the Rauner agenda is highly unpopular," SEIU Healthcare Illinois Vice President James Muhammad told the State Journal Register.
Earlier this month, the health care union launched an online advertising campaign against the governor's proposed budget cuts.
The union's campaign comes after the pro-Rauner super PAC "Turnaround Illinois" released a TV commercial taking aim at House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) and "his politicians" as the budget impasse in Springfield continues.
