TV ads from "Turnaround Illinois," the pro-Gov. Bruce Rauner super PAC, will reportedly begin to air in the state on Tuesday.
According to reports, the TV commercials are part of a $1 million ad buy said to take aim solely at House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).
The stated goal of the "Turnaround Illinois" super PAC is to "support state legislative candidates who support Gov. Rauner's bold and needed reforms, and to oppose those who stand in the way."
The TV ads are set to air as Democratic leaders and Rauner remain in a stalemate over the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago) weighed in on news of the TV ads Monday, saying "I think (Rauner) is dead wrong," reported Crain's. "I don't know that it's a particularly useful tactic if you want to get a budget settlement. . . .What is he thinking?"
