The arraignment of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert has been delayed to June 9, after having been originally scheduled for Thursday. There has been no explanation for the change in schedule, although such a happening is not wholly uncommon.
Hastert, 73, was indicted last week for allegedly paying an individual hush money for their silence on his previous sexual misconduct. The former congressman is also charged with lying to the FBI about the purpose of his cash withdrawals, which were made to pay off the alleged victim.
No attorney has made their representation of Hastert public as of yet. He is scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin in a Chicago federal court at 2 p.m. next Tuesday.
