The Illinois unemployment rate remained fixed at 6 percent in March, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The state's unemployment rate was 7.9 percent this time last year.
Job growth continues to be a problem for the state, IDES Director Jeff Mays reports. The job sectors that saw the most growth in March were transportation and utilities and construction. The hospitality sector, meanwhile, lost 4,900 jobs and financial firms cut 2,400 positions.
