Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner has donated an additional $1.5 million of his own money to his political campaign.
The millionaire venture capitalist made the contribution to his campaign coffers on Thursday, according to campaign finance records. All told, Rauner, who will go up against Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn in the November election, has donated nearly $10 million in personal funds to his political war chest.
Rauner had $7.2 million in cash on hand as of last month, while Quinn had $11.7 million to use in his re-election bid. Rauner, meanwhile, raised $8 million from April through June. Quinn pulled in $3.7 million during the same time period.
