Next Court Date Set For Pension Reform Lawsuits

A Sangamon County judge has given both sides in the pension reform lawsuit until June 13 to file their next round of documents in the case. The Illinois Attorney General's office also has a deadline to file objections in the case by that same date.

Additionally, the judge set June 13 to be the next court date in the case, during which lawyers for the state are required to provide a list of their witnesses, detailing what they are expected to say in their testimonies.

“It appears all the attorneys in the courtroom want to get to the substantive issues,” Sangamon County Circuit Judge John Belz said. “The problem is how do we do it.”

Belz decided earlier this month to put implementation of the law on hold until the lawsuit is resolved.
