Archer Daniels Midland has opted to set up its global headquarters in Chicago, despite not having landed a tax incentive from the state.

“While we considered other global hubs, Chicago emerged as the best location to provide efficient access to global markets while maintaining our close connections with U.S. farmers, customers and operations,” ADM Chairman and CEO Patricia Woertz said in a statement Wednesday morning. “Chicago also provides an environment where we can attract and retain employees with diverse skills, and where their family members can find ample career opportunities."

ADM will move its headquarters from Decatur, Illinois to Chicago, bringing up to 75 jobs to the Windy City. This is down from the 100 new jobs ADM stated it would bring to Chicago as it lobbied for a state tax break to remain in the Land of Lincoln. Additionally, the company may not set up a technology center that would bring another 100 jobs to Chicago as previously noted in its bid for a $30 million payroll tax break over two decades. Company officials say they are considering other states for the center and will make a decision on where the jobs will go by the middle of 2014.
