State Rep. Reboletti To Run For Dillard's Illinois Senate Seat

State Rep. Dennis Reboletti (R-Elmhurst) announced Wednesday that he will run for State Sen. Kirk Dillard's (R-Hinsdale) soon-to-be vacant 24th District Senate seat. Dillard is vacating the seat to run in the 2014 Republican primary for governor.

"Knowing that was an open seat, I was concerned about what may happen to it," Reboletti told the Daily Herald. "I want to make sure the seat remains in Republican hands and that we continue forward with the message of lower taxes and less government and protecting the quality of life for DuPage County."

State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-Lombard) is also reportedly pondering a run in the 2014 race for the Senate position.

It's not yet clear who will emerge as a Democratic challenger. Addison Township GOP Chairman Pat Durante told the newspaper that the state Senate's 24th District is "one of the best Republican districts in the county", and it would be "foolish" for Democrats to sink money into the race in an effort to win the seat.
