State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) officially announced on Tuesday that he has selected State Rep. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) as his running mate in the 2014 Republican gubernatorial primary.
“I am a suburban candidate with strong downstate roots,” Dillard said in a statement. “Having Jil as my running mate brings additional downstate support to our campaign that will only get stronger in the months to come.”
In a statement, Tracy thanked Dillard for his "vote of confidence" in choosing her for Lieutenant Governor.
“This state is of out of balance. A decade of one-party rule has left Illinois reeling," Tracy said. "We’re going to roll our sleeves up and begin the process of rebuilding Illinois.”
State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, who is also a Republican gubernatorial candidate, chose attorney Steve Kim from Northbrook as his running mate Monday. The other Republican candidates vying for the governor's mansion including millionaire venture capitalist Bruce Rauner and State Rep. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) have not yet announced who they will tap as their choice for Lieutenant Governor.
