Cannery Casino Resorts, a North Las Vegas-based company, is scheduled to announce today a $250 million casino for Country Club Hills, a southwest Chicago suburb. The casino would consist primarily of a five-story hotel with 250 rooms.
It would also mean a new place to gamble, and that requires legislation to expand state gambling. As PI has reported, the state legislature has in each of the last two years passed gambling expansion bills that Gov. Pat Quinn later vetoed. The latest measure to pass the General Assembly proposes a suburban casino, but does not specify where.
