Large corporations in Cook County would have to provide their workers with a "living wage" or pay a fee to help fund public services under proposed legislation to be unveiled before the Wednesday morning county board meeting.
A coalition of North Lawndale leaders and education advocates
released an alternative plan to school closings today, including a
comprehensive community strategy to provide wraparound services and
capacity building for schools targeted for closure.
