The Capitol Fax blog is reporting that U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-8) is continuing to make waves in D.C. The 8th congressional district Tea Partyer announced plans this week to run in the 14th congressional district, against Republican Randy Hultgren, and also commissioned some polling in the district of another fellow party member.
The Tea Party Republican is also making news for his recent assessment that the media is going to great lengths to "protect" President Obama because he is the first black U.S. president.
Two years ago, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster shocked the political world by defeating notorious anti-immigrant Republican Jim Oberweis in both special and general elections for the 14th Congressional District, a political territory long represented by Denny Hastert, the former House speaker. Foster was undoubtedly helped over the finish line by President Barack Obama's campaign in 2008.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is increasing its
financial support for two suburban congressional candidates, U.S. Rep.
Bill Foster and 10th District nominee Dan Seals. The group is spending
nearly $1 million for TV ads this week, doubling what the party’s
campaign wing had previously tossed into the contests.
