Op-Ed: Statement on Introduction of the Korea, Panama and Colombia Free Trade Agreements

The following is an op-ed by Arthur Stamoulis, executive director of the Citizens Trade Campaign, on the Obama administration's decision to send three free trade agreements to Congress today. Stamoulis was in Chicago this summer to bring attention to the controversial Trans-Pacific Free Trade Agreement negotiations the city hosted for two weeks.

Nobody honestly believes that the proposed free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama are job creation plans. Nearly two decades of lived experience under NAFTA, not to mention the federal government's own studies, shows that these pacts will become significant job-killers if enacted. These deals are about corporate greed, plain and simple.
