A Look At Why The Shootings Continue In Chicago

If you're wondering why there are still hundreds of senseless shootings on Chicago streets every year, be sure to check out this innovative article published in Sunday's Sun-Times. Examining a single bloody weekend in April 2008, reporters Mark J. Konkol and Frank Main paint a frightening picture of the Chicago Police Department's fight against gun violence. In response to the summer uptick in violent crime, Gov. Pat Quinn announced the formation of the Illinois Anti-Violence Commission on Sunday. The group will gather the testimonies of those affected by violence and introduce them to the Illinois General Assembly in November. Only time will tell if those stories will spark a wave of legislative action.
