Health Reform Is Good For Businesses

Congressional Republicans are indignant that some large corporations might face millions of dollars in new business expenses because of the health reform bill just passed into law. What they forget to mention, however, is that is due to the bill effectively stripping companies of government subsidies that covered prescription drugs for retired employees. "The crime that reform is guilty of," writes Huffington Post's Ryan Grim," [is] slashing corporate welfare."

What's more, improvements in Medicare prescription coverage and the creation of health insurance exchanges could allow large companies to shed the burden of covering retirees altogether in future years, thereby saving millions. Crain's has the goods on all of the advantages the bill provides to businesses.
