A Chicago City Council hearing will be held Wednesday on lead found in the water at over 100 public schools in the city.
Ald. Chris Taliaferro (29th) and members of the City Council's Progressive Reform Caucus requested the hearing in June.
The Education and Child Development Committee's hearing will address "whether the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago are in violation of The Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and other federal and state laws," according to an announcement from the Progressive Caucus.
The hearing is scheduled for 12 p.m. in the Chicago City Council chambers at City Hall.
