The state's health insurance marketplace, Get Covered Illinois, has a new director, the Illinois Department of Insurance announced Friday.
Karen Woods, the former executive director of Blue Cross Blue Shield's Retail Claim Operation, was tapped for the position.
According to a news release, Woods "has held various leadership roles within Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Care Service Corporation and is experienced in strategic planning and execution, project management, customer service, vendor management and business leadership."
Karin Zosel, the former Get Covered Illinois leader, departed from the state's health insurance marketplace in August.
Woods takes over the position during the third Affordable Care Act enrollment period, which ends January 31.
Since January 2, Get Covered Illinois has enrolled over 348,300 people in health care plans during the current sign-up period.
