The U.S. and Illinois Chambers of Commerce have put out a new TV commercial in support of U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The TV ads, which come after Kirk faced a recent negative media campaign spearheaded by environmental groups, began airing in the Chicago area Thursday, according to the newspaper. The ads will air for a week, at a cost of $377,000.
Kirk is touted in the ad in part for being an "independent leader fighting for Illinois." The ad also notes that Kirk is "working to preserve and keep the Great Lakes clean."
