The Concealed Carry Licensing Board has denied 100 concealed carry permits after reviewing applications that local law enforcement officials have submitted objections to thus far.
Figures released Monday show that about 100 other concealed carry permit objections were overruled by the seven-member licensing board, meaning the applications are allowed to advance.
According to Illinois State Police officials, about 50,000 applications for concealed carry permits have been submitted. Of those applications, 5,000 permits have been approved. The first concealed carry permits were mailed out Friday.
