Four Domininck's stores, two in Chicago and two in the suburbs, are set to close this coming Sunday and reopen as Jewel-Osco stores next Thursday.
The four stores set to undergo the quick makeover are:
• 1340 S. Canal St., Chicago
• 2550 N. Clybourn Ave., Chicago
• 1340 Patriot Blvd., Glenview
• 14200 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen
The pharmacies of the stores will stay open during the four-day rennovation. The U.S. Bank at the Clybourn location will close, but the Chase Banks at the other three locations are set to remain open.
All of the 450 employees at the four Dominick's stores have been offered jobs at the soon-to-be new Jewel-Osco stores.
Jewel-Osco appears to be considering the idea of purchasing additional Dominick's stores, according to an email sent to Crain's Chicago Business by company spokeswoman Allison Sperling.
Meanwhile, this month Mariano's Fresh Market is in the process of taking over five of the 11 Dominick's stores it's parent company Roundy's is purchasing. Whole Foods is rumored to be considering a purchase of six of the Dominick's locations.
