U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth has signed on as a co-sponsor to a bill aimed at protecting immigrants from fraudulent legal representation in their attempts to gain citizenship.
“Immigrants to our country deserve every opportunity to pursue the American Dream,” said Duckworth in a statement. “In our complex immigration system it is often difficult for immigrants to understand their rights and this provides opportunities for exploitation. We need to pass this legislation and comprehensive immigration reform to stop these crimes and create a system that is more practical, fair and humane. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move this bipartisan legislation forward.”
