Aurora Planned Parenthood facility can continued to operate at its
current location now that a DuPage County judge has dismissed a lawsuit alleging that the center went against the city's zoning laws.
his ruling, DuPage County Judge Paul Fullerton said the city of Aurora is allowed to make the
decision to place the Planned Parenthood center under zoning rules for a
medical clinic as opposed to the more limited zoning for a non-profit
Anti-abortion groups have been fighting against the Aurora Planned Parenthood facility even before it first opened in 2007. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood officials have pointed out that most of the services provided at the Aurora center are not abortion-related.
The Thomas More Society law firm, which focuses on religious and anti-abortion issues, filed the suit on behalf of the Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood and some residents. The non-profit law firm said it plans to appeal DuPage County Judge Paul Fullerton's ruling.
