Millionaire venture capitalist Bruce Rauner has raised $1.3 million
since his March 5 announcement that he is considering a possible run in the 2014 gubernatorial race.
Of the $1.3 million, Rauner, who would run as a Republican, contributed $249,000.
“we need major changes in the way we tax and spend”, Rauner formed an
exploratory committee last month, and launched a listening tour that has
already made 20 stops across the state. He plans to visit Rockford,
Rosemont and Monroe County this week.
Other rumored candidates
for the GOP nomination in the 2014 gubernatorial race include Illinois
Treasurer Dan Rutherford; State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington), who ran
against Quinn in 2010; State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale); U.S. Rep.
Aaron Schock (R, IL-18); and former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh.
