Ameren Corp., a St. Louis-based utility that serves 1.2 million
electric and 840,000 natural-gas customers in Illinois, announced
yesterday it plans to sell five of the state’s power plants, potentially
affecting approximately 700 employees.
The five plants are located in Canton, Bartonville, Joppa, Newton and Coffeen and will be sold to Houston-based Dynegy Corp.
