Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) failed to identify
the origin of $44,000
in donations to his congressional campaign for the 2nd Congressional
District seat. His campaign has blamed a "glitch in the software," and
will file a new financial disclosure with the Federal Elections
Commission on Tuesday.
Beale, who is running for
former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson’s now vacant seat, which covers parts of the South Side of Chicago and some of the south
suburbs, only accounted for $5,000 in donations, but claimed
almost $50,000 in receipts. Federal election laws say that only
donations less than $200 need not be itemized.
