The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Massachusetts U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D) is President Barack Obama's pick for Secretary of State, replacing Hillary Clinton. This news comes just one day after U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice pulled herself out of the running for the Secretary of State position, citing too much dissention on the part of Republicans as a result of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi back in September.
U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) would replace Kerry head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, according to the Sun-Times source, while Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel (NE.) is being strongly considered for the spot of Secretary of State.
