Almost exactly six months after protesters occupied the since shuttered Woodlawn mental health clinic in Chicago, a Cook County Judge ruled yesterday that four protesters who took part are guilty of criminal trespass. The protesters barricaded themselves in the clinic on April 12 before a police SWAT team broke down the clinic doors.
The trespassers were part of the Mental Health Movement, which has staged a persistent campaign to re-open six city mental health clinics that the Chicago Department of Public Health shut down in April. The convicted protesters will pay varying fines and penalties, according to WBEZ.
