Teachers in the northwest suburb of Crystal Lake went on strike today amid a dispute over health insurance benefits. The strike is limited to teachers at the kindergarten through eighth grade Prairie Grove School, impacting some 1,000 students.

The union and school board were scheduled to meet today for contract negotiations.
