Each paper contrasted Duckworth's careful style with Walsh's "political vitriol" (Tribune) and "extreme rhetoric" (Daily Herald). Walsh responded with a statement that claimed, "It is no surprise that these papers lose readership almost every single year and have essentially become irrelevant and bankrupt."

Walsh and Duckworth are scheduled to square off in a debate at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Rolling Meadows.
