U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) left the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on Friday and returned to his family in Washington, D.C. Jackson is not expected back at work immediately as Congress returns to session this week.
Jackson has been on a leave of absence since June and the public learned in August that he was being treated for bipolar disorder.
As the Chicago Tribune notes, Jackson is not the only Illinois lawmaker on medical leave. Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk suffered a stroke in January and a timetable has not been set for his return.
