A coalition of labor unions is set to protest Gov. Pat Quinn's appearance at the Illinois State Fair today in Springfield. The Bloomington Pantagraph reports that unions will specifically address the governor's record of public employee layoffs and his efforts to cut pension benefits for both current public workers and retirees.

And the We Are One coalition of unions fiercely opposes the governor's proposed pension cuts. The group gave their own pension cost savings plan Monday, but the governor's office dismissed the proposal.
