We learned Friday that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Chicago) checked into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for depression and gastrointestinal issues, according to a three-sentence statement distributed by the clinic. Jackson, who represents part of Chicago's South Side and South Suburbs in Illinois' 2nd District, has taken a leave of absence since June. A July 11 statement from Jackson's campaign said the congressman was being treated for a mood disorder at an undisclosed location.
There are still more questions than answers about Jackson, including when he will return to the House seat he's held since 1995.
