Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced yesterday that a city-county plan to combine some resources and services has netted $33.4 million in savings since it was first unveiled in June 2011.
Cook County announced last week that they had a budget gap of $267.5 million. The county budget is annually about $3 billion. The city of Chicago has not released their own projected budget deficit for the next fiscal year. The city's total annual budget is just north of $6 billion.
