Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, a Republican, leads Democratic party challenger Tom Barrett in two polls released a day before the gubernatorial recall election. Public Policy Polling, a polling firm, shows Walker ahead of Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, 50 percent to 47 percent in a survey of Wisconsin registered voters. The poll does find that Barrett could defeat Walker if turnout is north of 60 percent of registered voters.
Walker defeated Barrett in the 2010 election, when 49 percent of Badger State registered voters showed up at the polls. A seperate poll by Angus Reid polling has Walker ahead 53 percent to 47 percent among Wisconsin voters.
