A dispute between National Nurses United and city of Chicago officials over where to legally hold a rally for this Friday has been resolved: The city will let the nurses group stick to their original location of Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago. However, the planned march to Daley Plaza is cancelled.
The city revoked a permit last week to have the rally at Daley Plaza. City officials claimed that thanks to national advertising and the presence of musician Tom Morello the event would create a dangerous overflow into downtown streets.
The rally is anticpated to be one of the biggest events in a week long sequence of NATO summit-related protests that started this weekend. The NATO summit is at McCormick Place convention center, south of downtown Chicago, this upcoming Sunday and Monday.
