State Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago) will be arraigned today on federal bribery charges: Smith is accused of taking $7,500 from a federal informant who posed as a day care center employee looking for a state grant. The West Chicago lawmaker has professed his innocence amid calls to resign from Gov. Pat Quinn, state legislative leaders, and Secretary of State Jesse White -- Smith's political mentor.

The Illinois House is conducting their own investigation of the lawmaker, but Smith has not attended investigative committee briefings.
