In protest of the planned closings of six Chicago mental health care clinics, advocates and community residents occupied the Woodlawn clinic on the city's South Side. Though 23 were arrested yesterday, protesters say they aren't done.
The Mental Health Movement, which was accompanied by members of Southside Together Organizing for Power (STOP) at the Woodlawn action, promised further confrontrations with the mayor's office and police, but would not specify if they would sit-in at other clinics scheduled to close at a press conference this morning at the clinic. The Woodlawn, Auburn/Gresham, Back of the Yards and Beverly/Morgan Park clinics are set to close April 30.
